Located right beside Canal St. Martin, République and Bastille, Chez Raymonde was established 21 September 1995 as a small, friendly local bistro where the chairs were pushed one side on weekends to make room for an accordion player. In no time, Chez Raymonde had a plentiful stock of regulars, attracted by the singular personality of a chef who excelled in the kitchen and on the dance floor, and soon established a winning reputation for the place.

Chez Raymonde had managed to create a wonderful village gourmet restaurant feeling right in the heart of Paris!

The opening of the evening dance by the chef and the maître d'hôtel was even described as a "Great moment in the history of the Paris restaurant world, comparable to opening the roof in Lasserre's or Claude Terrail's presence in La Tour d'Argent" (François Simon - Figaro French daily - 29 Nov. 2000)

It was during one of these special evenings (organised on all major dates like Christmas, New year during the year - See the heading MENUS ET RESERVATION -) that the stunned customers discovered that their chef also had a fine singing voice. The laughter and emotion that ensued marked a turning point in Chez Raymonde's story.

In this way, little by little, Chez Raymonde arranged and rearranged the place to make it increasingly cosy and intimate.

A grand piano was brought on stage. Animated by musicians of tremendous talent, the band sweep patrons off their feet for a great evening.

The cabaret show is also packed with fun, with a hour of direct singing, performed by the chef and the maître d'hôtel, for an unforgettable tribute to the great names of Music Hall such as Joséphine Baker, Zizi Jeanmaire, Régine and Marlène Dietrich.

Faithful to its origins, Chez Raymonde prides itself on using only fresh products prepared on order (Yannick, the chef, spares no effort in recreating the forgotten taste of grandmother's cooking). This has contributed in no small way to Chez Raymonde's reputation as the cabaret with the best dinner plate in Paris.
